God’s Omnipotence – Jeremiah 32:17

Ah Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for You.

When your life seems out of control, trust in the One who is in control.  Rather than collapsing under the pressure, clap your hands, shout for joy, and sing praises to our God who reigns supreme over the nations.[1]  For He who made the heavens by His Word and the heavenly host by the breath of His mouth remains mighty,[2] and He rules supreme.  He is today, as He was when He laid the foundations of the earth, the King, eternal, the only wise God, the Creator, who sets the time for every event under heaven.[3]

War winds may blow in favor of our adversaries, our chances of victory may look dim, and the enemy may appear to be winning the battle, but our casualties should not make us doubt everlasting truths.  Fear and deception should not cause us to view our position as too dismal for God to bring about a beautiful, eternal result.  Rather, we can stand on what we have seen and learned, knowing our God is faithful to care for those who love Him and keep His commandments.[4]  We can trust that if God is for us, none can stand against us.[5]  We can face the day and sleep through the night wrapped in the promise of God’s deep and enduring love for us,[6] comforted by the conviction that nothing can separate us from this love, which intertwines our hearts with the heart of the Lord Christ Jesus.[7]

Whatever you may be facing today, fear not, for your Father in heaven is on His throne.  He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the Almighty One.[8]  His power is without limits; His strength knows no bounds.  Therefore, entrust Him with the cares that weigh so heavily on your mind and the fears that cause your soul to shutter.  Trust Him, for nothing is too hard for Him, and He will withhold no good thing from you.  Out of His limitless love, the Lord will bless you abundantly, for He delights in giving extraordinary gifts to His children.

Rejoice, for joy belongs to those who, standing in awe at God’s great power, realize the omnipotent ruler of the universe loves His children and He will faithfully care for them.[9]

Ah, Lord, I gaze upon the diamonds
You breathed across the evening sky
In awe, my heart asks silently,
“Why? Why was it I
?

“Whom You chose to be Your child,
Showered with love and grace
Allowed before Your holy throne
To see You face to face

Ah, Lord, why?
Why was it I?

“Selected and protected
Cherished and adored
Brought into Your royal family
Through Jesus Christ, the Lord

“Ah, Lord, why? Why was it I?
