Expect Miracles – John 16:24

Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.

Expect miracles, and you will see the windows of heaven opened and blessings poured out in rivers of healing, restoration, and provision. You will see the lost found and the spiritually dead given new life. You will see those blinded, unable to envision Jesus’ glory, given sight and those crippled with fear, inadequacy, and depression given strength to walk. You will see mountains of unbelief cast into the sea as those living apart from Christ are reconciled to God through His salvation, and you will see the impossible achieved.[1] You will see the Lord touch and revive those for whom you pray, and your joy will overflow, as you comprehend God’s love for you and His faithfulness to hear your prayers and answer them.

In faith, expecting miracles, bring your petitions before the One who rules over every nation, tribe, and tongue, the holy One who holds all authority and might in His hand. Trust Him with your prayers, acknowledge that nothing can stand against Him,[2] and appropriate His promise, “If you will believe, you will see the glory of God.”[3]

Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will fulfill your heart’s desire to see prisoners brought forth from their dungeons.[4] Intercede with a pure heart, anticipating the glorious day, for which you watch, when you will sing for joy with the angels in heaven over the repentance and restoration to God of those for whom you fervently pray.[5]  Walk in hope, knowing that those whom you uphold before the Father are precious in His sight, and stand in faith against discouragement when the victory does not come when you would have come or does not meet your explicit instructions to the Lord.  Trust on, persisting in prayer, believing that God’s love for His chosen ones goes so deep that He gave His own Son to purchase these pearls of great worth.[6]

Rejoice in God’s promise to hear our prayers and heal our land if we will humble ourselves before Him, seek Him, pray, and turn from our transgressions.[7]  Exalt the Lord, your God.  With a surrendered heart, one giving the Lord glory and honor, lay your desires at the foot of His throne, and in faith, expect Him to answer your prayers.  Rest in His faithfulness, and watch, for our heavenly Father is a God of miracles and wonders, and He demonstrates His awesome power among His people, making His strength known to them.[8]

The earth beneath them rumbled

Their prison’s wall lay crumbled

Broken chains dropped to the feet

Of captives once held by deceit

The deceiver writhed and groaned

When the light of heaven shone

As they surrendered joyfully

Their blinded eyes opened to see

The wonders of the Lord unfold

The promises, faithful and bold

Of peace and love and all good things

That the King of Kindness brings

And silently one kneels to raise

To God an offering of praise

For miracles of answered prayer

Beyond what one could hope or dare

To believe the Lord would give

When having asked that they might live

To receive Jesus as Lord

And to their Father be restored
