The Author

Once embarking on the journey to write the Highway of Holiness, its author, Kathy Carlin, spent five years to complete this work. She rose early to study the Word, praying it would enlighten her heart and give her understanding. Writing late into the night, she continuously sought inspiration and guidance from the Lord that this work might be valuable for the Kingdom of God, bringing the reader closer to Him as the embedded Word penetrates the soul and spirit.

Residing in Richmond, VA, Kathy delights in being just a few miles from her two daughters, their husbands, and her five grandchildren, who range in age from 20 to 9. Her son and his wife live in Florida, which is farther away than she would like, but she loves to visit, especially in the winter.

Kathy started her career as a systems analyst over 30 years ago after graduating from Rutgers University with a BA in Computer Science. After earning her Masters in Health Care Adminstration, with her youngest daughter in college, she became an IT Consultant for a major healthcare software vendor. In 2005, she took a position with a large academic health system where she continues to work as an IT project manager, and although most of her friends have retired, she thoroughly enjoys the creativity her job allows. In addition to her role in Serving in Jesus’ Name, she serves on the Prayer, Hospitality, and Meals Teams at Hope Church in Richmond. She is also a mentor with Precious to God, a Richmond-based ministry to trafficked and exploited woman.

Coming to a relationship with Jesus Christ in her twenties, Kathy has spent the last four decades walking with Him in His sanctifying grace. Most recently, He is giving her a more profound understanding of what is means to live a 1 Corinthians 13 kind of love. Since God is love, and Christ is God, Jesus is the incarnation of love, and her heart’s desire is for Him to give her this kind of love for Him and others.

“Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, and does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.” I Corinthians 13:4-8
