Praise

Praise God – Psalm 48:1

Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, in the city of our God, His holy mountain.

Stronger, fuller, and deeper, oh Lord, Most High, grant us this holy desire, that our love for You will grow stronger, fuller, and deeper, and teach our hearts to praise.  Teach us to praise you without holding back, to praise You with passion, in truth, and in honor, oh Lord, for You alone are worthy of our praise.

Praise the Lord.[1]  Delight in Him, and bless His holy name, forever and ever.[2]  Praise Him early in the morning, throughout the day, before you lie down in the evening.  Let your lips praise Him, wherever you are, whatever the situation.  In the midst of desolation, raise your voice with gladness to the heavens and sing out, “Praise the Lord of hosts, for the Lord is good, and His mercy endures to all generations.”[3]  In sorrow and loss, praise Him.  Rather than forfeiting your joy, lift the banner of the King of kings and raise your hands in praise before the Holy of holies, before the only One in the heavens and on the earth to whom praise is due.

Seek to know the Lord and to know of Him, so praise will flow naturally from your soul.  Look to the hills, the rivers, the flora, the fauna, and the beauty of creation will tell you of God’s glory, causing you to rejoice and be glad in Him, to magnify Him.[4]  Stand on a foundation built on the Rock of our salvation, Jesus Christ, and lift your eyes to heaven, giving praise, honor, and glory to the Lord for His excellent loving-kindness, His mercy, and His truth.[5]  Exalt Him.  Praise Him for His unwavering faithfulness, which rises to the highest heavens; praise Him for His righteousness, which is like the majestic mountains, and praise Him for His justice, which is pure and perfect.[6]  Glorify Him, lifting His name on high, bowing before Him in awe and reverence.  Praise and give thanks to the Lord with a heart set on Him.[7]  Praise Him, and His glory will fill the place where you are, for He inhabits the praises of His people.[8]  Praise the Lord, and you will see astonishing wonders.

Praise the Lord.  Let everything that is within you praise the Lord.  Extol your God and King; bless His holy name forever, for great is the Lord and highly to be praised.[9]

King of kings, holy and righteous

Crowned in majesty on high

Awe and wonder fill Your temple

Lord, Your name I glorify

Worship is my joy and honor

In exultation, my hands I raise

Everything that is within me

Brings this song of utmost praise

Praise to You in highest heaven

Praise to You, my Lord and King

Praise and worship, love, and honor

These gifts my humble offering

Glory, glory, glory, glory

In wonderment, I lift my song

I join creation’s joyful chorus

Rejoicing as I sing along
