Reflecting Christ’s Glory – 2 Corinthians 3:18

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

Glory shines where Jesus resides, and nothing can extinguish its light.  The difference is startling between those who sparkle with the love of Jesus and those who reflect no hope of a future beyond that which our perishing bodies and our corrupt world offer.  When we allow Jesus to shine through us, others see Him.  His glory cuts through the darkness to attract those with eyes to see and hearts to receive.  Non-believers who have not hardened themselves against the Truth will see the love for God and others implanted in us by Jesus,[1] and His reflection will draw them to Him as they observe us standing with joy upon the Rock of Salvation.[2]

Aspire to reflect the hope of glory, Jesus’ glory, to those who are perishing.[3]  Pray that those observing the body of Christ would see Jesus, beautiful and radiant, loving and kind, standing at the doorway of their hearts, offering to enter in and dine with them.[4]  Pray that we who carry our Lord’s holy name would hunger and thirst for righteousness,[5] desiring a profoundly deeper commitment to Christ than the superficiality of merely going to church on Sundays, saying grace before meals, and spending a few harried minutes in prayer while we leave our hearts untouched by His sanctifying power.  Pray that we will pursue a deep, abiding relationship with Jesus and will allow Him to transform us, so we may reflect a godly wisdom.  Ask Him to polish us that we might shine in purity, live in peace, treat other with gentleness, reasonableness, mercy, steadfastness, and honesty.  Pray that we will bare much fruit for God’s kingdom.[6]

Shine with the light of Christ’s glory.  Live in obedience to God’s Word, taking on His compassion, grace, and slowness to anger, and your life will abound in loving-kindness and truth.[7]  For as we rid ourselves of ungodliness and impurity, drawing closer to the Lord, sin will no longer cloud His radiance, and we will represent His wonderful nature before the world.[8]  We will become as lighthouses, streaming forth saving rays of hope into the darkness enveloping those who are living without Christ.

Welcome the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit, and as He transforms your heart, the sweetness of Jesus’ love will grow ever brighter within you, attracting others to Him and showing them that knowing Him is incalculably more desirable than the world’s feeble offerings.[9]

A reflection of holiness,
Lord, let my life be
May the splendor of heaven
Shine in glory through me

Let my words flow in beauty
Soothing, life giving
May I carry the fragrance
Of He who is living

And daily transforming
My life by His beauty,
Breathing into my soul
His love and His mercy

As You throw back my veil
And I stand in Your glory
May Your radiance shine
As it tells the story

Of a love that goes deeper
And higher and wider
Of a love that is broader
Than worldly desire

A reflection of holiness,
Lord, let my life be
May the world see Your glory
Shining through me
